A giant ship's engine failed. The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure out how to fix the engine.
Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a young boy.
He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work.
He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.
Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do.
After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer.
He gently tapped something and instantly the engine lurched into life.
The engine was fixed!
A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for $10,000.
"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"
So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."
The man sent a bill that read:
Tapping with a hammer....................... $ 2.00
Knowing where to tap.......................... $ 9,998.00
Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort in your business makes all the difference.
Because over the years, I’ve come across too many aspiring entrepreneurs who try to do it all by themselves.
Bad idea.
Surround yourselves with others who can show you where to tap.
And if you don't, the next few months will likely look like this;
You might meet up with friends you haven’t seen in a while.
You might have a family dinner.
Or you might bump into an old acquaintance at the grocery store.
And very early in the conversation, you’re going to talk about work.
Most people are quite happy giving the standard answers and saying they’re working away and doing “just fine”.
But you’re not like most people.
And while you’ll give the same generic answer so the conversation moves along.
You’ll feel a knot in your stomach as all the thoughts race through your mind about how you’re not where you want to be in life.
And you’d make all kinds of promises to yourself about finally making the moves you’ve played out in your head a thousand times.
This is one potential scenario.
The other one is you pull out your phone and show how your Microbrand is taking off on Amazon.
You SHOW how your online business is growing and helping create a life most people will only dream of.
And then you happily answer all questions that follow because you have certainty, success, and prosperity in your future.
It’s no secret which situation you’d prefer to find yourself in.
